Red Seas Under Red Skies – Scott Lynch. The Lies of Locke Lamora was quite possibly the most exciting novel of 2006. It wasn't hated or anything, but general consensus seemed to be that it was not nearly as good as it's predecessor. Red Seas Under Red Skies is in many ways quite a different book. I really admire Scott's writing. While I didn't enjoy Red Seas Under Red Skies as much as I enjoyed the Lies of Locke Lamora, this was a cracking good read full of humor, fun, and lots of adventure. Finally, I read and finished one of my most anticipated books of the year – Red Seas Under Red Skies, the second book of seven in the Gentleman Bastards sequence by Scott Lynch. Perhaps you want an explanation for why my posting has been so sparse lately? Last week I finished reading Scott Lynch's Red Seas Under Red Skies , the second of his Locke Lamora books. Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch. It's meticulous and deliberate where Lies reveled in offhanded whimsy. Part heist, part high seas adventure, the novel maintains the charm of the first in the series, while delving into new realms. It is, perhaps, much too slow out of the gate, and overlong by about a hundred pages. Or perhaps since it has always been erratic it is what you expect from me.
